03 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW recessed handle, part number 54 12 8 144 170. The number stamped on the part is 54128144170; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8144170. You will find it on our Exterior Body shelf, under Other Sliding Roof / Folding Top parts. It supersedes the older number 8132354, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan (318i, 320i and 325i, 1992–1998), with the M40, M43 or M50 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Single Parts for Sliding Lifting Roof (54_0174) diagram. It weighs about 20 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
