Genuine BMW part 65 12 9 408 268: Radio BMW Professional RDS. The number stamped on the part is 65129408268; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9408268. You will find it on our Instruments & Electronics shelf, under Radio, amplifier, CD player. It supersedes the older number 9402062, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 and other engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 11 diagrams, among them Audio-System with CD-Changer (03_1237) and Audio-System with CD-Changer (03_1238). It weighs about 1.6 kg (3.5 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
