Protection cap — a genuine BMW part, number 61 13 1 383 901. The number stamped on the part is 61131383901; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1383901. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Plug connection, terminal. It supersedes the older number 0492967, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Various Plug Terminals/Cable Grommet (61_0090) diagram. BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”. It weighs about 2 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Cap (0492967).
