This is a genuine BMW polyester velours wrapping band, part number 61 13 6 908 716. The number stamped on the part is 61136908716; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6908716. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Plug connection, terminal. It supersedes the older number 8357831, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2359177.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 9 diagrams, among them Various parts, wiring harness repair (61_2107) and Various parts, wiring harness repair (61_2298). BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”. It weighs about 75 g (0.2 lb).
