This is a genuine BMW plug-in nut, part number 46 63 7 658 638. The number stamped on the part is 46637658638; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7658638. You will find it on our Supplies & Hardware shelf, under Motorbike fairing, windscreen. It supersedes the older number 2308647, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 209 diagrams, among them Mechanical Connection Elements (41_0982) and Mechanical Connection Elements (41_1433). BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”. It also comes in BMW kits Repair kit, windshield (7677913) and Set of fittings f engine spoiler (7682325).
