The number stamped on the part is 11257551602; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7551602. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Piston with rings and pin. It supersedes the older number 7540065, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7562452.
It fits every E46 body style (316i, 316ti, 318i and 318ti, 2001–2004), with the N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
BMW draws it on the Crankshaft-Pistons (11_3186) diagram. BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”. It weighs about 390 g (0.9 lb).
