This is a genuine BMW O-ring, part number 25 11 1 221 243. The number stamped on the part is 25111221243; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1221243. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearshift. It supersedes the older number 1220504, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and compact (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M42 engine.

BMW draws it on 36 diagrams, among them Gearshift, mechanical transmission (25_0577) and Gearshift, mechanical transmission (25_0064). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted.
