Genuine BMW part 11 42 1 744 001: O-ring. The number stamped on the part is 11421744001; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1744001. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Oil filter and lines. BMW has since replaced it with 7549573.

It fits every E36 body style (320i, 323i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M52 engine — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (320i, 323i and 325i, 1999–2006), with the M52, M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 10 diagrams, among them Lubrication system-Oil filter (11_1542) and Lubricat.syst.-oil filter, heat exchanger (11_2104).
