This is a genuine BMW mechanical belt tensioner, part number 11 28 1 432 104. The number stamped on the part is 11281432104; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1432104. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Other Engine parts. It supersedes the older number 1247647, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M43 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.

BMW draws it on 7 diagrams, among them Belt Drive Water Pump/Alternator (11_1522) and Belt Drive Water Pump/Alternator (11_1523). It weighs about 790 g (1.7 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
