Marten repeller — a genuine BMW part, number 12 12 1 739 479. The number stamped on the part is 12121739479; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1739479. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Ignition lead, spark plugs. It supersedes the older number 1736141, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 12 diagrams, among them ignition wiring/sparkplug (12_0037) and ignition wiring/sparkplug (12_0052). BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”.
