This is a genuine BMW luggage compartment tensioning straps, part number 71 10 8 045 545. The number stamped on the part is 71108045545; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8045545. You will find it on our Tools shelf, under REPAIR PACKAGE. It supersedes the older number 0414247, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 7 diagrams, among them Boot lashing strap (03_0261) and Boot lashing strap (03_0262). It weighs about 1.1 kg (2.4 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
