06 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW locking for roofbox, part number 82 12 9 401 528. The number stamped on the part is 82129401528; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9401528. You will find it on our Merchandise & Accessories shelf, under Other Universal Accessories parts. It supersedes the older number 9401482, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, touring and compact (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 and other engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 10 diagrams, among them Ski and luggage box (03_3162) and Ski and luggage box (03_3163). BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 29 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
