The number stamped on the part is 23221228477; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1228477. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gear wheels. It supersedes the older number 2330182, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 1999–2004), with the M43, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
BMW draws it on 7 diagrams, among them S5D...G countershaft/reverse gear (23_0224) and 6 Speed Transmission-Output Shaft (23_0735).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
