Levelling switch — a genuine BMW part, number 17 13 7 524 812. The number stamped on the part is 17137524812; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7524812. You will find it on our Cooling System shelf, under Expansion tank. It supersedes the older numbers 0409622, 7506601, 7532124 and 7546548, so a part carrying any of them is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7553919.

It fits every E46 body style (320i, 323i and 325i, 1999–2006), with the M52, M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 53 diagrams, among them Expansion tank, manual gearbox (17_0140) and Expansion tank, automatic gearbox (17_0141). It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
