Kick-down switch — a genuine BMW part, number 35 42 1 180 441. The number stamped on the part is 35421180441; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1180441. You will find it on our Brakes shelf, under Other Pedals parts. It supersedes the older number 1154103, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 31 diagrams, among them Accelerator pedal/bowden cable LHD (35_0448) and Accelerator pedal/bowden cable RHD (35_0449). It weighs about 80 g (0.2 lb).
