Genuine BMW part 26 11 7 523 709: Hex Bolt. The number stamped on the part is 26117523709; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7523709. You will find it on our Drivetrain & Axle shelf, under Other Drive Shaft parts. It supersedes the older number 1227659, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7635643.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 49 diagrams, among them Drive Shaft-Cent.Bearing-Universal Joint (26_0092) and Drive Shaft-Cent.Bearing-Universal Joint (26_0129). It weighs about 60 g (0.1 lb).
