02 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW heating element backrest, part number 64 11 8 391 697. The number stamped on the part is 64118391697; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8391697. You will find it on our AC & Climate Control shelf, under Other Heater and Air Conditioning parts. It supersedes the older number 8353026, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Seat heating (52_3154) diagram. BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 78 g (0.2 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
