This is a genuine BMW heat protection shield, part number 11 12 2 242 092. The number stamped on the part is 11122242092; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2242092. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Cylinder head with cover. It supersedes the older number 2241636, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2243894.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 169 g (0.4 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
