This is a genuine BMW grooved ball bearing, part number 23 21 1 222 260. The number stamped on the part is 23211222260; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1222260. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Transmission shafts. It supersedes the older numbers 1228334 and 1282570, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 1999–2004), with the M43, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.

BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_0719) and S5D...G drive shaft/output shaft (23_1182). It weighs about 260 g (0.6 lb).
