This is a genuine BMW glow element, part number 12 23 1 288 245. The number stamped on the part is 12231288245; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1288245. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Generator cooling. It supersedes the older number 1286058, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2240255.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Glow Plug Unit/Temp.Sensor/Trigg.Contact (12_0293) and Glow Plug Unit/Temp.Sensor/Trigg.Contact (12_1289). It weighs about 26 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
