The number stamped on the part is 51211954400; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1954400. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older numbers 1950661, 2252683 and 8105590, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and compact (318i, 318ti, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 and other engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 14 diagrams, among them Door handle front/lock/key (41_0044) and Door handle front/lock/key (41_0045). BMW lists the quantity used as “as required”. It weighs about 14 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
