Gearshift knob, leather/M plaque/6-speed — a genuine BMW part, number 25 11 7 896 884. The number stamped on the part is 25117896884; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7896884. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearshift. It supersedes the older number 2228157, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 coupe and convertible (M3, 1996–1999), with the S50 engine. It also fits every E46 body style (330i and M3, 2001–2006), with the M54 or S54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 7 diagrams, among them Retrofit, leather gearshift knob (03_0331) and BMW Performance gearshift, man. gearbox (03_2818). It weighs about 190 g (0.4 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Installing set gear lever kinematic (0430358).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
