Gasket Steel — a genuine BMW part, number 11 14 1 739 905. The number stamped on the part is 11141739905; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1739905. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Housing cover. It supersedes the older number 1743033, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 1992–1999), with the M43 engine — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9 and 318i, 1997–2001), with the M43 engine.
BMW draws it on 5 diagrams, among them Timing Case (11_1376) and Timing Case (11_2063). It weighs about 40 g (under 0.1 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Gasket Set Engine Block Asbesto Free (1712981) and Gasket Set Engine Block Asbesto Free (9066453) and 1 more.
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
