Flap, towing eye — a genuine BMW part, number 51 12 7 173 749. The number stamped on the part is 51127173749; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7173749. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Door, rear. It supersedes the older number 7065478, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E46 coupe and convertible (325i and 330i, 2001–2006), with the M54 or M56 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Trim panel, rear (51_4930) diagram. It weighs about 8 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
