17 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW fillister head screw, part number 54 11 2 492 397. The number stamped on the part is 54112492397; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2492397. You will find it on our Exterior Body shelf, under Other Sliding Roof / Folding Top parts. It supersedes the older number 2489788, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 compact (318ti, 1995–1999), with the M42 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Folding Sliding Roof Frame (54_0198) diagram. BMW's catalog calls for eight of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 2 g (under 0.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
