This is a genuine BMW expanding rivet, part number 51 48 8 353 567. The number stamped on the part is 51488353567; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8353567. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older numbers 0301462 and 0301637, so a part carrying any of them is the same part.
It fits the E46 convertible (323i, 325i, 330i and M3, 2000–2006), with the M52, M54 or S54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 34 diagrams, among them Front Seat Backrest Frame (52_2687) and Fuel tank/mounting parts (16_0682). BMW's catalog calls for three of these at each place it is fitted. It also comes in BMW kit Installation kit, individual seats (8520028).
