Uncoded ctrl unit f autom.air cond. (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 64 11 8 379 521. The number stamped on the part is 64118379521; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8379521. BMW's catalog calls it “Exch Uncoded Ctrl Unit F Autom.Air Cond”. You will find it on our AC & Climate Control shelf, under Other Heater and Air Conditioning parts. It supersedes the older number 8378467, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Actuator for automatic air condition (64_0668) and Automatic air conditioning control (64_0669). It weighs about 260 g (0.6 lb).
