01 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW output shaft ABS (exchange unit), part number 33 21 1 227 585. The number stamped on the part is 33211227585; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1227585. BMW's catalog calls it “Exch. output shaft ABS”. You will find it on our Suspension shelf, under Other Rear Axle parts. It supersedes the older number 1227591, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and touring (320i, 323i, 325i and 328i, 1992–1999), with the M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Output shaft (33_0468) diagram. BMW's catalog calls for two of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 6.1 kg (13 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
