EGS control unit (exchange unit) — a genuine BMW part, number 24 61 1 422 103. The number stamped on the part is 24611422103; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1422103. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH-EGS control unit”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1421483, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and compact (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M42 engine.

BMW draws it on the Control unit EGS, programmed (24_0628) diagram. It weighs about 670 g (1.5 lb).
