This is a genuine BMW EGS control unit (exchange unit), part number 24 61 1 421 970. The number stamped on the part is 24611421970; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1421970. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH-EGS control unit”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 1421617, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and compact (316i and 316i 1.6, 1993–1997), with the M43 engine.

BMW draws it on the Control unit EGS, programmed (24_0628) diagram. It weighs about 667 g (1.5 lb).
