This is a genuine BMW control unit DME programmed (exchange unit), part number 12 14 7 546 342. The number stamped on the part is 12147546342; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7546342. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH control unit DME programmed”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 7542903, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 7563952.

It fits the E46 sedan, touring and compact (316i and 316ti, 2004), with the N46 engine.

BMW draws it on the EXCH control unit DME programmed/EKV946 (12_1325) diagram.
