The number stamped on the part is 12317788247; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7788247. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH compact generator”. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Alternator with motor and mounting. It supersedes the older number 7788222, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E46 sedan and touring (318d, 320d and 330d, 1998–2002), with the M47 or M57 engines.
BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them Compact Alternator (12_0614) and ALTERNATOR PARTS 120A/150A Valeo (12_0914). It weighs about 7.4 kg (16 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
