This is a genuine BMW CD Changer (exchange unit), part number 65 12 9 242 666. The number stamped on the part is 65129242666; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9242666. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH-CD Changer”. You will find it on our Instruments & Electronics shelf, under Radio, amplifier, CD player. It supersedes the older number 9167081, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.

BMW draws it on 2 diagrams, among them CD Changer/Bracket (65_1679) and CD changer / holder (65_1932). It weighs about 1.5 kg (3.2 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
