This is a genuine BMW basic control unit SMG (exchange unit), part number 24 61 2 282 565. The number stamped on the part is 24612282565; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2282565. BMW's catalog calls it “EXCH basic control unit SMG”. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Automatic transmission parts. It supersedes the older number 2282515, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 2282605.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 379 g (0.8 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
