Genuine BMW part 61 31 2 490 236: Covering right. The number stamped on the part is 61312490236; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 2490236. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Switch. It supersedes the older number 2496276, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M43, M44, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 6 diagrams, among them M Sports steer.-wheel, airbag, leather (32_0732) and Airbag sports steering wheel, leather (32_0734). It weighs about 29 g (under 0.1 lb).

We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
