Genuine BMW part 11 14 1 247 393: Control valve. The number stamped on the part is 11141247393; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1247393. You will find it on our Engine shelf, under Housing cover. It supersedes the older number 1706982, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits the E46 sedan, coupe and touring (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9, 318d, 318i and 320d, 1997–2002), with the M43 or M47 engines.

BMW draws it on 9 diagrams, among them Lubrication system/Oil pump with drive (11_0440) and Lubrication system/Oil pump with drive (11_0504). It weighs about 10 g (under 0.1 lb).
