This is a genuine BMW control unit alarm system, part number 82 91 9 408 596. The number stamped on the part is 82919408596; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9408596. You will find it on our Merchandise & Accessories shelf, under Other Universal Accessories parts. It supersedes the older number 9404791, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe and convertible (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50, M52 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Alarm system (03_0984) and Alarm system (03_0985). It weighs about 183 g (0.4 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
