Cast iron rim silver front — a genuine BMW part, number 36 31 1 240 957. The number stamped on the part is 36311240957; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1240957. It supersedes the older number 1240956, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 1238959.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 5.5 kg (12 lb).
