This is a genuine BMW case holder left, part number 46 54 1 240 941. The number stamped on the part is 46541240941; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1240941. You will find it on our Supplies & Hardware shelf, under Luggage system. It supersedes the older number 2301003, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Set Case Holder (46_0027) diagram. It weighs about 900 g (2.0 lb). It also comes in BMW kit Case supp. kit, no install instructions (1239487).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
