07 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW cap, part number 64 53 8 390 638. The number stamped on the part is 64538390638; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 8390638. You will find it on our AC & Climate Control shelf, under Other Heater and Air Conditioning parts. It supersedes the older number 0152472, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 8387438.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on 17 diagrams, among them Drying Container/Small Parts (64_0620) and Condenser/Fan/Drying Container (64_0636).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
