Bracket — a genuine BMW part, number 24 11 1 218 679. The number stamped on the part is 24111218679; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1218679. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Gearbox housing, oil sump. It supersedes the older number 1217128, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on 40 diagrams, among them A5s310z Oil Pan (24_1575) and Zf 3hp22 Housing Parts/Oil Pan (24_0038). BMW's catalog calls for three of these at each place it is fitted. It weighs about 12 g (under 0.1 lb).
