The number stamped on the part is 23137545742; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7545742. You will find it on our Transmission shelf, under Other Manual gearbox parts. It supersedes the older number 1432062, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits every E36 body style (318i and 318ti, 1992–1999), with the M42, M43 or M44 engines — and the European-market versions. It also fits every E46 body style (316i, 316i 1.6, 316i 1.9, 316ti, 318i and 318ti, 1997–2004), with the M43, N40, N42, N45 or N46 engines.
BMW draws it on 8 diagrams, among them Catalyst/Lambda Probe (18_0227) and Catalytic converter/front silencer (18_0249). It weighs about 7 g (under 0.1 lb).
