This is a genuine BMW batteryclamp positive, part number 12 42 1 724 568. The number stamped on the part is 12421724568; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1724568. You will find it on our Electrical shelf, under Other Engine Electrical System parts. It supersedes the older number 1724569, so a part carrying that number is the same part.

It fits every E36 body style (318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M42, M43, M50, M52, S50 or S52 engines — and the European-market versions.

BMW draws it on the Battery Cable(battery Rear) (12_0364) diagram. It weighs about 66 g (0.1 lb).
