01 View BMW DiagramSee this part on the official exploded view→This is a genuine BMW base support system, part number 82 71 9 408 587. The number stamped on the part is 82719408587; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9408587. You will find it on our Merchandise & Accessories shelf, under Other Universal Accessories parts. It supersedes the older number 9402917, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 0142219, 0142220 and 0142221.
It fits the E46 sedan and coupe (320i, 323i, 325i, 328i, 330i and M3, 1999–2006), with the M52, M54, M56 or S54 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Roof rack (03_3132) diagram. It weighs about 6.1 kg (13 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
