This is a genuine BMW badge operation with camera, part number 51 24 7 412 896. The number stamped on the part is 51247412896; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 7412896. You will find it on our Interior Body shelf, under Other Body equipment parts. It supersedes the older number 7308625, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
BMW draws it on the Trunk Lid/Closing System (41_2152) diagram. It weighs about 1.0 kg (2.3 lb). It also comes in BMW kits Reversing camera retrofit kit (2221267) and Reversing camera retrofit kit (2410689).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
