Automatic transmission oil Dexron II — a genuine BMW part, number 81 22 9 400 275. The number stamped on the part is 81229400275; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 9400275. You will find it on our Supplies & Hardware shelf, under Shop system accessories. It supersedes the older number 9407558, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 9400272.
It fits every E36 body style (318i, 318ti, 320i, 323i and 325i, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M44, M50 or M52 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on 4 diagrams, among them Gearbox oil (83_0282) and Gearbox oil (83_0512). It weighs about 52 kg (114 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
