Genuine BMW part 32 34 1 161 983: Airbag sports steering wheel. The number stamped on the part is 32341161983; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 1161983. You will find it on our Steering shelf, under Other Steering parts. It supersedes the older number 1161016, so a part carrying that number is the same part.
It fits the E36 sedan, coupe, convertible and compact (318i, 320i, 325i and M3, 1992–1999), with the M40, M42, M43, M50 or S50 engines — and the European-market versions.
BMW draws it on the Airbag sports steering wheel 2 (32_0892) diagram. It weighs about 1.4 kg (3.1 lb).
We have not had one on the shelf yet. Request it and we will tell you when one comes off a car.
