Air spring strut, front left — a genuine BMW part, number 37 11 6 850 227. The number stamped on the part is 37116850227; BMW's catalog files it under the short number 6850227. It supersedes the older number 6795875, so a part carrying that number is the same part. BMW has since replaced it with 6862551.
BMW's catalog records no E36 or E46 it is fitted to; it belongs to other BMW models.
It weighs about 9.1 kg (20 lb).
